Extremely long game update time hello, i’m currently facing a major issue with helldivers 2 updates Whenever an update starts (like today, may 20, 2025, with an 11.8 gb patch), the download is fast thanks to my fiber connection, but steam’s file update phase shows over 3 hours and 20 minutes remaining. My game crashes to desktop a few seconds after i launch it through steam Was playing fine just yesterday Since todays patch i'm unable to launch the game Verified integrity of game files multiple times, restarted pc
Fix that worked for me was manually deleting the data folder and verifying integrity of game files again via steam. Unfortunately i cant blame helldivers itself for the bad update system, cuz at the end of the day the game relies on steam's content distribution system (steampipe) which is supposed to make updates more efficient The guide tries to fix one of the worst bottlenecks slow patching caused by steam writing temp files to an hdd instead of an ssd.
