I’ve seen bop creds, and you don’t need anything more than that Try to make an arrest … you’re not trained for that, and have extremely limited authority If an arrest is made on prison grounds, it’s the usms, fbi, or oig. First bop does not have an academy You attend the intro to corrections course at glynco and it is only 3 weeks long You will work like normal until you attend the only difference is until you get through glynco you can not work any armed posts (tower, perimeter etc) and you are not qualified to carry off duty.
The issue with bop is thwre are 122 institutions and 180 different ways and thats not because of sexuriry level At any usp housin units have 2 staff per howevwr this wasnt standard until 2013 So you will have a paetnwr. Bop employees can carry off duty if they qualified each year on the range but must follow local carry laws as far as i know They are considered federal leo but have limited arrest powers They are covered under federal leo retirement
Okay, good stuff to know The ws shift differential information is interesting to me, this is because where i work now we have gs, ws and wg, and i have heard some gs and wg employees arguing about shift differential. The bad thing was that the bop had me working on the job for nearly 4 months before sending me to fletc to get trained The other bad thing is that the training we received was nowhere near adequate for the type of work that is done. Bop use to issue the creds that said leo for retired staff only and they changed that to everyone about 2 years ago right when the 2013 update took place Can't speak for the other agencies but when i get my lead firearms re certified every 3 years leosa (as well as agency specific other legal stuff) is a topic with agency attorneys coming in.
In the federal system, corrections officers with the federal bureau of prisons (bop) do have law enforcement retirement (which stops the 37 age limit clock for other fleo positions as well. The bop seems eager to hire for a few places like dublin ca Can somebody give me the pros and cons of the bop I have really never considered working in the prison system but things are starting to look bleak Anyway if there is already a post, disregard and point me in the right direction, thanks Tags:none jcioccke forum member join date:feb.
Depends upon which joint you applied According to the site, several facilities are in desperate need for cos You'll hear from them before any other, but the bop is a revolving door, so you never know.
