The paper deals with the main aspects of the scientific research, technological development and innovation activities carried out in romania at national, development regions and some counties level compared to the corresponding ones in some member countries of the european union. For the national agency for medicines and medical devices of romania, a strategic institution with a major role in facilitating romanian patients' access to medicinal products and medical devices, continued in 2021 to respond to the challenges imposed by the pandemic context. Ad scientific index currently includes data on 2.626.747 scientists from 24.546 institutions across 221 countries While these figures represent one of the broadest global datasets, we emphasize that automatically including all researchers with public google scholar profiles is not our goal. In romania, scientific research is for many years in a serious crisis, which every year becomes more profound because of clear disinterest of post 1990 governments.
