Baton rouge — a grand jury indicted the former head of the region's groundwater commission, an assistant superintendent at brec and another man on allegations that they conspired to bypass state. Since its inception in 1938, the cooperative has grown and currently provides electricity to over 4,160 miles of energized line in a 3,000 square mile region Brec employees are on call seven days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to ensure reliable service to members. Operating over 170 parks, it is brec’s mission to enhance the wellbeing and connectivity of east baton rouge parish by preserving, maintaining, and improving its parks, recreational facilities, natural resources and recreational experiences for the benefit of current and future generations. The mission of brec foundation is to raise funds for parks and recreation to benefit the health, welfare, and culture for all citizens and visitors of east baton rouge parish.
