First time i've seen tongue splitting was on a tv show called boston public, a bunch of students were brought to the principal's office for having their tongue split but it was nowhere near this at all. It turned out amazing, congratulations How hard was it to figure out/get used to moving them independently like that? As stated in another comment, visible bodymods are generally forbidden for pilots but since a tongue split is hidden, i am pretty sure you can get away with it I don't live in the states but i went for my aviation medical here in canada a couple years before covid hit, they didn't ask about this stuff when it came to my physical.
I believe the depth of the split has an effect on the tongue function Before i split mine, i did a bit of research and found that the further back it's split, the more it's function seems to be impeded.
