The same thing has happened to me a few times on offerup too, not to mention on this other similar service called mercari Seller says they are going to ship, prints the shipping label out that they get sent, and then never ships, or they do not even do that, and just never ship. As long as you get items shipped to you with money back guarantee and demand payment/shipping through offerup, are you safe? I bought my car on offerup, got it for a steal, 2014 nissan maxima with 90k miles on it paid $3,500 for the car, nothing wrong, no accidents or salvage or rebuilt title just a dude tryna get rid of it.
