Overall tashigi is one of my favorite's among the marines only behind fujitora and smoker so i like her pretty much but i am disappointed of what happend to her after timeskip in terms of strength development She does show some kind of skill like soru amd haki but doesn't do anything with it. Smoker, fujitora, and others who understand the strawhats all develop a clear begrudging respect for them Tashigi is evidence that if kuina had lived she would’ve been able to achieve her dream of being a powerful swordsman despite her gender She’s an explicit parallel intended to draw comparison and show that kuina’s gender would not have held her back. Tashigi's main character flaw, at loguetown at least, is a prejudice towards pirates
Obviously, this prejudice isn't completely unfounded, as the vast majoirty of pirates are violent raiders who steal from those who are too weak to protect themselves. Thematically, zoro x tashigi makes more sense because Tashigi looks the same as kuina who meant a lot to zoro and their promise of becoming a wss is zoro's main driving force in achieving his goal Tashigi was introduced way earlier in the story then hiyori, and is the only female reccuring character in zoro's journey. Thus once and for all, proving tashigi is kuina Yes folks, the proof is in the pudding.

I think tashigi's presence is there to make us wonder where smoker is Hell, there's been so many scenes with marines involved since smoker's last appearance involving all sorts of less relevant characters, but not smoker.
