【本報訊】現時外牆髹上粉紅色的油麻地街市建於1957年，擁有67年歷史，曾是九龍最大的街市，與港島最大的中環街市齊名。 油麻地街市座落於油麻地及佐敦的核心地帶，街市對出的新填地街更是過百米的街市街，服務街坊過百年。 然而，回顧80年代的香港政府歷史檔案，當時油麻地街市可算是街市中的典範，甚至被評為最高級別 – 「非常具競爭力（Very Viable）」。 位於九龍油麻地的廟街，自1887年發展至今，不僅是香港著名的夜市，更被譽為香港的「平民夜總會」，這裡結合了多元文化與經典老香港氛圍，還有很多香港美食小吃，尤其煲仔飯是必吃！ 香港廟街南邊連接香港地鐵荃灣線的 佐敦站，北邊又很靠近 油麻地站，不管從哪邊開始逛都可以，因為雖然說主要的廟街夜市就是紅色虛線那條，但其實周邊都非常熱鬧，五光十射的招牌，商店美食餐廳大排檔隨處可見，像是很有名的 澳洲牛奶公司 、義順牛奶. 「油麻地社區記憶」收錄了老街坊的口述歷史，從人的角度，呈現油麻地社區的舊日生活、今日情懷。 因此，展覽導賞員帶大家到油麻地走一走，參觀老街坊的「社區生態」。 外墙髹上粉红色的油麻地街市，曾是二战后兴建的街市项目中最大的单幢式街市，亦曾是九龙最大的街市，与港岛最大的中环街市齐名。
