I had a real slow morning last year so around noon i chummed a few holes and my flags started flying So i typically use chum and i catch a lot of pike but iām really not sure if there is a positive correlation between the two Pike in nimisila i really don't know if there are pike in nimisila now,but twenty years ago there were a ton of them in that lake.i have caught many pike off of the bridge by the bait store.i used to fish with eddie,who owns the bait store's son,and i remember the two of us following the creek under the bridge into the backwater and seeing some. This is the 3rd season i've used hotdogs for bait and i'm totally convinced that they out perform most bait other than large live minnows which is illegal in. Picked up 2332 acres of woods clearcut and thickets in southwest pike county ohio, looking for a few strict management mind members willing to work and put time into the management of the property We have already started working on gates foodplots and etc The lease will start july 1st and run. Pike love to eat perch, heck pike will eat anything they can (and sometimes can't) fit in their mouths I would say set your traps at the same depth you are fishing for the perch, and most definatly use perch for bait.
There are a few lakes that the pike have taken over and become the game fish In those lakes, it seems a lot of people kill the smaller pike they catch and release the really big ones, so they can get bigger and make a better fishery In lakes like sebago lake, the biologists want to do everything they possibly can to remove/reduce. Lots of fish were going to die last summer simply because those rivers don't have a lot of shade trees to keep the temperatures down.
