The nea developed the map through a series of dialogues with researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in the arts, economics, education, health, and other fields. The arts have a role to play in this new agenda In 2011 the national endowment for the arts collaborated with the u.s Department of health and human services to host a convening examining the relationship between the arts and wellbeing. Announcing the nea’s research agenda provides opportunities for external stakeholders to engage directly with the work of the arts endowment, whether by responding to funding opportunities or by entering into strategic partnerships with the agency.
