I finally got my fj40 running again after sitting for about a year It sat for about 8 months and has just been cranked up and run for any amount of time in the past 2 weeks I got it out today and let it run. I've rebuilt about 5 6l80 transmissions now with a lot of help from ben who goes by ctchevy here on pirate Since this transmission is gaining popularity, i figured i would share what i have learned about how to take these transmissions apart and how to rebuild them with stock or aftermarket.
Here's what i'm dealing with My daily driver of about 5 years is on it's trans' last leg Reverse cut gears are used on some front axles Standard cut gears in a front differential will be driven on the coast side when you are going forward Reverse cut gears in a front diff will be driven on the drive side when going forward which is a stronger setup So standard cut gears are stronger in the rear and reverse cut are stronger in the front
