We are looking at buying a house that has a stone fireplace in the living room and a place in the basement to connect a woodstove, the house is 1456 sq ft on one floor and the basement is same sq

Was wondering if placing a woodstove in the basement wood supply. Just installed my first woodstove, a pleasant hearth 1800sq ft woodstove in my 1200sq rancher It’s located on one side of the house I have floor vents and wall returns near the ceiling with insulated duct in the basement I was wondering if it’s possible to run the hvac system fan to help. The stack was lower than my house and it would set off a smoke detector in my attic

The town elected to work with him and after he put in a 30' extension on his stack it became far less of an issue Obviously making your home tighter will reduce the smoke getting inside If you have a chimney and are not using it, that is logical thing to seal. Finally got my woodstove, vermont castings encore, installed in my unfinished basement Did a quick little test fire last night and the chimney drafts great, no problems so far I havent burned it long enough to see how well the heat makes it upstairs, but what are you guys with similar.

You can try bracing it to the house by attaching steel brackets of some sort to the chimney and structure of the house to buy you a year, maybe, but even then i wouldnt want a couple 2x4's to hold up thousands of pounds of brick and masonry

Is there just that one flue in the chimney? After some doing some research, i have found that you can do a horzontal side vent and then up 5 feet for a pellet stove I was thinking about installing a second wood stove on an exterior wall of the house and venting it horizontally thru the wall and then up 90 degrees 5 feet for a wood. If you are getting smoke in the house or you stove just don’t seem to be burning like should Check the door seal and latch for a tight fit Check the ash pan for shut tight and latched if all doors seals are good and latched

Most pellet stove are negative air (inside of the firebox is. For a little bit of background on the house I needed to replace the crumbling humidifier pad on the aprilaire unit bolted to our new ng furnace I noticed the water line for the humidifier taps a hot water and not a cold line This was a surprise to me

This results in a trickle of hot water running through the unit and out the drain.

Cheaper than many wood stoves a furnace that can heat an entire house Anybody have any experience using one or know of them in use 78 yo house, 2 ft thick uninsulated masonry walls, full daylight basement with walkin on north side (bummer), massive concrete foundation with basement stairs, laundry room floor, and two porches all poured along with the foundation The front of the house faces south, but the south. Anyone watch homestead rescue raneys ranch on discovery channel I was watching it last night and the fathers house had a bit of a chimney fire that got out of hand and they completely lost their cabin on the homestead they have been working on for most of the show for the last few years

Our wood is piled a good distance from the house and buildings We have a carport and in front of the car is a porch that leads into the house It is now time for me to build a stack of wood next to the porch (actually i have a small pile now but the big pile is yet to come). My house is approx 2200 sq feet of livable space with the unfinished basement adding another 500 sq feet What size stove might i need Do any of you have one installed in the basement

Do you think a pellet stove will put out enough heat to help me

I really do not have a spot to install it on the main level of the house. My pellet stove is in my living room, which is connected to kitchen I need to find out a way to transfer the heat from one room to another What are you guys using I tried a 10 fan and didnt get any real results?
