On march 6, the secretary of defense directed all dod components to adopt the software acquisition pathway (swp) as the preferred pathway for all software development components of business and weapon system programs in the department. The jiatf 401 director will submit unfunded requirements for fiscal year 2026 (fy26) to the usd (comptroller)/chief financial officer of the department of defense (usd(c)) for review within 30 days. Additionally, i direct the under secretary of defense for personnel and readiness (usd(p&r)) and the secretaries of the military departments to immediately update applicable regulations, including reference (b), to incorporate this direction. The secretary of war announced new memorandums addressing significant changes to strategic policies and procedures within the department of defense.
